Desi Bartlett has been teaching fitness classes for over 16 years. Her innovative approach to teaching is to encourage students to tap into their inner joy and let the movement be its outward expression.
Desi has an undergraduate degree in kinesiology, with a minor in dance, and a master's degree in corporate fitness. She holds advanced certifications in yoga, personal training, and group fitness. She is also a continuing education provider through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the National Council for Personal Trainers. Originally from Chicago, Desi now lives in Southern California.
Shive Rea, M.A., is a leading teacher of prana vinyasa flow yoga and yoga trance dance worldwide. She began exploring yoga at age 14 as a way to understand her name, given to her by her father, a surfer and artist. Her studies in the Krishnamacharya lineage, tantra, Ayurveda, bhakti, kalaripayattu, world dance, yogic arts, and somatic movement infuse her approach to living yoga and embodying the flow. She is known for bringing the roots of yoga alive for modern practitioners in creative, dynamic, and life-transforming ways, and for offering the synthesis form of vinyasa flow throughout the world.
I embrace yoga as a universal path as well as traditional teachings and practices to cultivate and realize our full potential. Vinyasa is a natural sequence unfolding with creative intelligence - a conscious evolution connecting each moment with unifying breath. When Kristin moved to New York City from Pocatello, Idaho, in 1994 to pursue a career in acting, she never imagined she'd end up a fitness celebrity.
While attending New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, she discovered yoga, which was taught at school for breath control and proper alignment. After studying yoga with some of the world's most renowned instructors, Kristin created her own style that was an instant hit for its upbeat, refreshingly hip approach. In addition to her yoga certification, Kristin is also certified to teach Pilates -- two disciplines that she feels are complimentary, and that work well with other forms of exercise and sports.
In 2003, Kristin was asked to choreograph and instruct the first MTV Yoga video, which she followed up with three additional fitness titles for the music video channel: MTV Power Yoga, MTV Pilates and MTV Pilates Mix. Kristin has appeared on Good Morning America, CNN Headline News, Fox's Good Day New York, Tyra Banks Show and NBC's Today Show as a fitness consultant and has been on the covers of Pilates Style and Fit Yoga magazines. She has also been in Self, InStyle, Shape, Fitness and Women's Health as a contributing editor and/or fitness model.
Kristin's success as the MTV fitness guru brought her stars and athletes as clients. When she's not teaching at select health clubs in Manhattan, Kristin spreads her yoga and Pilates discipline to schools and community centers in the New York City area. She volunteered at the winter Olympics in 2002 as well as the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Self Workout in the Park.
Recently, Kristin has turned her attention to a younger audience with the production of her own DVD, Bendigirl Yoga, which targets "tweens" and teens. The DVD provides a fun and approachable way to enjoy this ancient spiritual practice while helping viewers ground themselves and realize the positive virtues of yoga. Additionally, she has produced Kristin McGee's Power Yoga, which provides a fun and energetic yoga session for of all ages.
Fred Devito & Elisabeth Halfpapp
Core Fusion creators Fred DeVito and Elisabeth Halfpapp have over 50 years of a combined experience teaching Pilates, Lotte Berk Method, yoga, dance and Tai Chi - disciplines that comprise the Core Fusion workouts. They are founding team members of Exhale, a leading mind/body spa with locations around the United States.
Originally from "Down Under," though a New Yorker of many years now, Violet has grown to excel at numerous roles within the fitness profession, while still striving to expand her expertise. Early on she became a Certified Fitness Instructor and a Black Belt in Karate, achieving recognition and success as a competitive contact fighter, both nationally and internationally. Her professional group fitness work started in Australia and blossomed in New York, progressing from an eight-year stint as a volunteer instructor at the YMCA to a top draw for several years running at, arguably, the cityâ€™s premier club, Equinox Fitness, with stays at Reebok and Crunch Fitness along the way.
She is a Master Trainer under the Powerstrike and Body Bar programs, and an International Fitness Presenter, while her class repertoire includes a body of self-developed, signature workouts. Violet has also logged many hours as a private trainer during this time, specializing in efficient, dynamically challenging routines requiring little to no equipment. As a featured star trainer, her video/DVD titles continues to expand: Crunch Fitness Cardiosculpt, Self Magazineâ€™s Your Best Butt Fast and Firm Flat Abs Fast, Push TVâ€™s Cardio Combat, Trainerâ€™s Edge Killer Kicks, and, most recently, Exercise TVâ€™s Star Trainer Series (Cardio Kick Butt, ABsession, Strength Zoneâ€¦with more to come!) and Self Magazineâ€™s Sculpt Sexy Legs Fast. In addition, she has appeared and/or contributed to several fitness magazines and on various television shows, including the CBS Early Show as weekly fitness correspondent and Home Shopping Network as a featured fitness expert.
